This is a real conversation that happened while I was checking in my 2 luggages for my flight to Geneva:
"Sir, let's weigh your luggage now, OK? 49.5 lbs, perfect. Now for the other one. Oooh, unfortunately, the 2nd one's 5 lbs overweight. Since this is an international flight, it'll cost a little more than a domestic flight. Let me check the rate, quickly."
**In the background, I'm ignoring everything she's saying & unpacking the extra books to put in my carry on**
The attendant mustered up her straightest face, looked up at me & said, "OK, sir, that'll be $150."
WTF? Really? $150, For 5 lbs? Man, the audacity of some people! She tried to pass that by me like that's a common amount.
My face wore an expression yelling, "B#$%@, is you smoking reefer?" This lady does not respect me.
If she noticed the disgust in my face, she didn't say anything. Luckily, I remembered to bring a carry on that could accommodate the extra weight.
I'm not sure if they get commission for that sort of thing, but Delta is definitely getting no more of my (borrowed) money. Capitalism at it's finest. SMDH. That is all.
